The Catholic Schools Office is always looking for vibrant and innovative educators to join our community!
The Catholic Schools Office is deeply committed to the continued growth of faculty who serve in the Archdiocese of Boston Catholic schools. Throughout the year, teachers are encouraged to attend pertinent professional development opportunities at low or no cost to faculty. We believe that strong faculty equals stronger students, and that professional capability strengthens the learning models in our schools. We, therefore, seek professionals with a deep yearning for the continued development of skill sets.
Professional development opportunities vary from year to year but always pertain to the needs our faculty face in the classroom at the current moment. Past opportunities have included: Collins Writing Program, Chromebooks, ASCD Mathematics, 3D Printing, Responsive Classroom, First Aid/CPR.
WE HAVE ALSO MOST RECENTLY HAD THE FOLLOWING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR TEACHERS:
Facing History and Ourselves (using a historical approach to teach contemporary issues involving politics, social justice, diversity and racism)
Orton Gillingham (a strategic, research-based approach to teaching the phonetic components of reading)
EdTech Teacher (several workshops on integrating technology into lessons and learning)
MARC (demonstrating the best strategies to prevent bullying in school)
Cultural Competency (building an inclusive classroom environment that is sensitive and responsive to the unconscious biases that we all harbor)
Teaching English language Learners (identifying the most effective methods for teaching students who speak more than one language)
Increasing Social Emotional Learning in the Classroom (making teachers aware of students’ social and emotional needs, and offering ideas for how to address those needs both on an individual basis and with group relationships)
Meeting the Needs of Struggling Readers (identifying the reasons behind why students struggle to read, and providing strategies for overcoming those challenges).
